Monstera plants are also known as Swiss-cheese plants, split-leaf philodendrons, hurricane plants, and Mexican breadfruit. Monstera plants have glossy, heart-shaped or rounded leaves that develop deep clefts and oblong perforations as they grow older. The leaves can be up to 18 inches wide and have foot-long leafstalks. Monstera plants are easy-going and generally pest-free. They thrive in bright to medium indirect light, and should be watered every 1-2 weeks. They prefer humid conditions, but normal room humidity is usually sufficient.
